01 — About

Enterprise architecture and delivery, end to end

I work in enterprise architecture and enterprise development — from the domain model and integration architecture through to the code that ships. Most of my work sits where large retail, supply-chain, e-commerce and fintech platforms meet the constraints of the organisations that run them: legacy estates, third-party systems, regulatory obligation, data volumes that punish naive designs. Invoicing and payout flows for a multinational retailer, supplier financial forecasting, leasing contracts at scale — the recurring theme is money and data that have to be right.

That work now includes AI. AI in enterprise systems is mostly an architecture problem: bounding what a model is allowed to act on, keeping a person in the approval path, and leaving an audit trail that stands up to scrutiny. AI in fintech adds a harder constraint — the output has to be defensible to an auditor, not merely plausible. I have built that governance layer myself rather than theorising about it.

I work across the whole stack. The bulk of my depth is server-side on the JVM, but I have built and maintained front-ends and shipped native iOS applications, which means I can reason about a system end to end rather than handing off at the boundary.

I lead technical teams as well as build. That means setting the architecture, keeping the decisions documented and defensible, reviewing the work, and staying close enough to the code to be useful when something is genuinely hard.

AccessFlow

Role
Creator & Maintainer
License
Apache License 2.0 – open source

Governed database & API access, built for engineers. AccessFlow is a SQL, NoSQL and API proxy that puts review, approval and audit between a team and its production data and services.

Every query and API call is inspected and classified as a read, a write or a schema change, optionally scored by an AI risk analysis, routed through configurable approval workflows and written to a tamper-evident, cryptographically chained audit log. AccessFlow holds the encrypted connection details itself, so engineers authenticate against the proxy instead of sharing production credentials.

  • Query governance for SQL and NoSQL, with 15+ database connectors including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, Snowflake and BigQuery
  • AI-assisted review: risk scoring, anti-pattern detection and optimisation hints
  • Multi-stage approval chains, policy-as-code routing, just-in-time access and break-glass emergency access
  • API access control for outbound REST, SOAP, GraphQL and gRPC calls
  • Field-level masking, PII/PCI/PHI/GDPR data classification, retention and right-to-erasure workflows
  • Append-only audit trail with signed PDF and CSV exports
